About

Every movement begins with a first step.

Korak po Korak brings people together through walking, participation, and community to create more opportunities for everyone.

The movement exists so no one is left on the sidelines.

We connect citizens, volunteers, businesses, institutions, and local communities to promote health, remove barriers, and create equal opportunities to participate. Our vision is a society where difference is never a barrier to belonging or fulfilling one's potential.

How it began · 2023–2024

A personal change became an invitation to others.

After more than twenty years in the corporate world, founder Danijela Lončarić decided to take a different path in 2023. She did not yet know where that decision would lead.

In spring 2024, she walked almost one thousand kilometres on the Camino de Santiago over 28 days. She returned without a finished plan — only a clear wish to keep walking.

I knew only one thing — I wanted to keep walking.

That decision gave rise to “Hodajmo za one koji ne mogu” — the first step from which Korak po Korak would grow.

The first 100 kilometres

“Would you walk with me?”

“Where, and how far?”

“One hundred kilometres in 24 hours.”

Two people set out around Belgrade's Ada Ciganlija lake. Before they began, the challenge found a purpose beyond distance by supporting Mogu sve, an association working with children with disabilities. After 22 hours and 17 laps, they completed the first 100 kilometres.

2025 · Walking became a movement

Every new route brought new people.

Growth did not happen all at once. It came through people's decisions to begin, join for a day, or stay until the end.

  1. 1

    160 km

    Camino Krk

No other walkers arrived at the start. Danijela decided to set out alone.

  2. 2

    103.5 km

    Camino Međimurje

Friends decided to join for one or two days.

  3. 3

    170 km

    Camino Korčula

Two women Danijela had never met reached out through Instagram and walked with her.

  4. 4

    100 km · 24 hours

    Jarun

What began with two walkers became a place of belonging for hundreds of people.

The community took the next step.

At the Jarun finale, 450 people participated, 626 registrations were purchased, and six participants completed the entire route. The most important change was not in the numbers: an idea had become a community.

2026 · A national movement

Routes connected communities across Croatia.

Southern Istria, Zadar, and Zagorje brought new people, local partnerships, and new experiences. Around 350 participants gathered on the first day of Camino Southern Istria; three women completed Zadar in four days, while the Zagorje group grew along the route.

From initiative to movement

The beginning was not replaced. It was given room to grow.

“Hodajmo za one koji ne mogu” began as a humanitarian initiative. As people, communities, and partners joined, it became clear that the idea had grown beyond a single event. Korak po Korak continues the same purpose — more broadly, more inclusively, and with more ways to participate.

More than walking

Korak po Korak participants walking together.

This was never only about kilometres.

Walking is a way for people to meet, move, and remove barriers together. The movement promotes health, inclusion, and social responsibility while creating opportunities for children and young people with disabilities.

Health

Movement becomes an accessible opportunity to connect.

Belonging

Everyone can find their own way to participate.

Inclusion

Barriers are social challenges we can remove together.

Responsibility

Communities and partners turn intention into opportunity.

What we believe

Change begins with participation.

Mobility is access to education, work, friendship, and self-confidence. That is why a few simple principles guide every step of the movement.

01

People before goals

Every decision begins by asking how it creates an opportunity for a person.

02

Stories before statistics

Numbers show impact; people explain why it matters.

03

Participation before donation

Belonging begins when people can find their place in the movement.

04

Community before organisation

Korak po Korak belongs to everyone who decides to move forward together.

The next step

You do not have to walk one hundred kilometres.

Sometimes one step is enough. Because none of us walks alone.
